Music is a joyful part of school life. In Music Class children sing together, learn Russian folk and children’s songs, and get to know the beautiful tradition of Orthodox church singing. Lessons develop a sense of rhythm, a good ear and the ability to sing in an ensemble, and prepare students for school concerts and holiday celebrations.
A course designed especially for the students of our school.
Children learn to listen carefully, sing in tune and in harmony, and read simple musical notation. Through Russian folk songs, classical pieces and the music of Russian composers they come to know the culture behind the language they are learning.
Students also become familiar with church singing — the prayers and hymns of the Orthodox services — and prepare songs for the school’s Christmas and Pascha concerts and other celebrations.
A good school cannot flourish without the help of dedicated parents. When parents sing with their children at home and come to our concerts, every child gains confidence on stage.
